University of Miami - Virtual Observership Program

The International Medicine Institute’s Medical Training Program is now offering virtual programs in several medical specialties. The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has precluded the in-person participation of international observers due through travel lock-down and local social distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus and promote well being. Our mission is to continue our commitment to education and training by establishing new alternates through “virtual rounds.” Through a single sign-on platform that is HIPAA compliant, users have access to an interactive live e-learning experience which simulates the in-presence observer experience.

We are currently offering the following rotations:

  • NEW-Infectious Diseases

  • Internal Medicine Ward

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (UMH)

  • Coronary Care Unit (JMH)

  • Hematology/Stem Cell Transplant

  • Surgical ICU Virtual Rounds (JMH)

  • Trauma (JMH) And more to be announced soon

Through these ‘virtual rounds’ we are able to:

  • Four weeks virtual clinical rotations

  • Transmit the rounds to multiple participants

  • Real time case management discussions with medical team

  • Review medical history, procedures and results

  • Transmit high resolution images and videos

  • Offer participants opportunity to ask questions, and offer opinions virtually

Participants will also be able to have access to our weekly Zoom conferences, etc. A schedule of conferences will be e-mailed to all accepted physicians and/or medical student.
