The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Department of Surgery is seeking one PGY1 General Surgery preliminary resident to begin on July 1, 2020. As the only general surgery residency program in Buffalo, New York, our department provides care to an enormous patient population as well as the mix of cases necessary to provide the broadest possible learning experience. Buffalo has a metropolitan population of over 1 million people and offers a wide variety of cases especially in trauma, vascular, and general surgery. All of our hospitals are within a 20 minute drive of each other and we offer training at 6 different institutions over the course of your residency including specialized institutions in pediatrics and oncology. We offer comprehensive training in general surgery, with sufficient exposure to the subspecialties to meet the requirements of the American Board of Surgery and the Residency Review Committee. All of our graduates are eligible for Board Certification. Research opportunities are also available for residents in all surgical specialties, and include a broad range of topics from basic science to clinical to epidemiological to educational research.
