The University of Colorado School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is pleased to offer the DIPC “Commitment to the Medically Underserved Externship Stipend.” This program was designed to help offset the costs of an away externship rotation for fourth year medical students interested in caring for medically underserved pediatric populations in Colorado and provide uniquely Colorado experience for medical students! Funding includes up to $2500 for reimbursement of travel, housing and other rotation expenses. We look forward to having another group of outstanding scholars rotate with us!
Through this program medical students are given an opportunity to experience the rigorous academic environment of the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Children’s Hospital Colorado. Any medical student attending a United States medical school (allopathic or osteopathic), other than the University of Colorado School of Medicine, who will be a fourth-year student at the time of their externship in the University of Colorado Department of Pediatrics is eligible to apply for this stipend. Students who apply for and are accepted to an accredited rotation through the University of Colorado of School of Medicine can then apply to be a scholar in this program to support their experience. In addition to their assigned rotation, scholars have the opportunity for an immersion experience in an outpatient underserved clinic and additional unique experiences can also be crafted to meet the scholar’s interests. Each scholar will have an assigned resident mentor and also faculty advisor to assist with connecting with the greater
