Welcome to recruitment season everyone! I’m a seasoned program coordinator turned GME (Graduate Medical Education) consultant and I’m here to give you the scoop from the Program’s perspective. Before I get to the content, let me introduce myself. Many years ago, I wanted to be a doctor. I dreamt I would be—I was pre-med in college. I took the MCAT. I failed miserably. If you’re reading this, know that I’m in awe of you. You’ve gotten this far, and I’ve dedicated myself to the service of physicians. My goal in life is to end the physician shortage in the U.S., but that’s a story for a different day.
After my failed attempt at medical school, I joined the GME world as a program coordinator. In this role, I vetted thousands of applicants. Then I became a GME administrator. Oh my goodness, that was fun! Nowadays, I travel around the U.S. building residency and fellowship programs from the ground up. If you’re applying to a newly accredited program, chances are that was me.
I have about ten years of experience in GME—and of all that experience—helping young physicians such as yourself realize your dreams is my favorite part. That’s why I partnered with Unmatched MD. I want to help. You can do what I can’t—use scientific inquiry and ingenuity to heal people. I think that is just fantastic. So let’s get you there, shall we?
